The BBC Radio Scotland Young Trad Award launched in 2000 and the inaugural winner was Gillian Frame (right). Many musicians have entered the Award since then and over 168 musicians have attended the semi-finals. At the semi-finals 12 musicians come together in Wiston Lodge, South Lanarkshire to play music, talk about the business side of trad music, eat lots and hang out. They also play for 10 minutes at a concert in Coulter Hall, South Lanarkshire where 6 musicians are picked to go through to the finals at Glasgow’s Celtic Connections festival.
If you would like more information about the Award you can download the BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician 2014 leaflet for more information (see also below).
