Horsecross Arts Calling All Scottish Traditional and Gaelic Musicians

August 7, 2012 in News by Simon Thoumire

Horsecross Arts (Perth Concert Hall and Perth Theatre) has been supported by Creative Scotland to embark on a two year development programme as a Talent Hub for Scottish Traditional and Gaelic Music. With The Gordon Duncan Experience of Scotland (our Celtic youth big band) at the centre of our Hub, we plan to support early and mid-career musicians with skill development opportunities such as the music apprentice scheme, and musical development through masterclass and mentoring sessions, and in 2014 we hope that traditional musicians in their hundreds will descend on Perth and Perth Concert Hall for our industry conference.

These are just a few of the aspirations we have for the coming two years but what we would like is to hear the opinions of the Scottish Traditional and Gaelic musicians out there to help us programme events and plan activities that are relevant to you and that would be interesting and beneficial to musicians of all career levels.

For this reason we have set up a Survey Monkey to start the ball rolling. We would really appreciate it if you would pass the link on to any and all musicians you know and we apologise in advance if you should receive it a few times from different sources but it would be extremely useful to us if you could take a few minutes to complete it.

If in the coming months you want to contact the Talent Hub or check in with how we are getting on then please contact me at dsalem@horsecross.co.uk or go into the Horsecross Arts website from Mon 1 Oct to view what opportunities or events are taking place.
