Glasgow songmaker and teacher McNaughtan is best known for his authorship of such nostalgic or humorous songs as ‘Yellow On the Broom’, ‘The Glasgow I Used To Know’, ‘Ye Canny Fling Pieces Oot a Twenty Story Flat’ (aka ‘The Height Starvation Song’) and ‘Oor Hamlet’. McNaughtan had a central role in the ‘Stramash’ co-operative group of singers.
