Aged 14-18? Want to join a folk big band? The Gordon Duncan Experience is looking for members.

The Gordon Duncan Experience, Horsecross Arts’ unique celtic big band for young people aged 14-18 is currently seeking new players. The band is based in Perth but membership is now open to anyone resident in Scotland. We’re looking for a high standard of musician in any instrument and no prior knowledge of traditional music is necessary.
I’ve attached the very simple application form and I’d be very grateful if you could pass it on to anyone who might be interested and eligible. The personal and creative benefits can be massive and I’d highly recommend the Experience experience to anyone! Please note that we’ve now extended the deadline to Mon Sep 3rd.
The band plays contemporary compositions rooted in traditional music including several by the iconic Perthshire composer and piper, Gordon Duncan, and specially commissioned pieces, written and arranged exclusively for the band’s 30-strong lineup. The GDE musical directors are Corrina Hewat and David Milligan and they are backed up by a superb team of instrumental tutors including Patsy Reid and Steven Blake and will soon be bolstered further by the addition of 4 Apprentice musicians as part of our Traditional Music Talent Hub, which has been largely built around the GDE. The band will play at the Scots Trad Music Awards in Fort William in December and we are currently setting up more shows for the New Year.
Download an application form to take part.
