ScottishCultureOnline.com is a website run by Scottish charity Hands Up for Trad. The aim of the website is to be a community for all of Scotland’s culture. We aim to involve all of Scotland’s cultural community in promoting and archiving the current and cultural scene.

Simon Thoumire: Creative Director
A critically acclaimed concertina virtuoso, who has played all over the world. Winner of the prestigious BBC Radio 2 Young Tradition Award in 1989, Simon has always been keen to explore different genres of music, releasing many records over the years, delving into folk, jazz, improvisation and composition. In 2002, Simon set up Hands Up for Trad as a platform to present the Scots Trad Music Awards, BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician Award, Tinto Summer School, Distil and Scotland Sings. An experienced Mentor, Event Manager and Webmaster.
Persephone Nichol-Bose: Development Manager
Persephone trained at Bristol Old Vic Theatre School and has over 20 years experience of working with some of the country’s leading arts organisations, including Stellar Quines Theatre Company, which has gone on to become one of Scotland’s award winning, flexibly funded companies. Persephone is an experienced Project Manager, Planner, Fundraiser, Marketeer and keen Mentor to young people starting out in the creative industries. Originally from the far North coast of Scotland, Persephone comes from a family of violin makers and has a lifelong passion for Scottish traditional music.
